Activated carbons are elements for the molecular filtra-tion, employed for the adsorption of gaseous polluants and air odors. The deodorisation consists in keeping the concentration of the odorous substances in the gas pha-se, below the olfactory threshold, or, in case of polluants gases, in reducing their concentration.
Activated carbon is composed of granules with ave-rage diameter 3 ± 0,3 mm, or vegetal origin’s flakes, such as wood, peat, coconut, brown coal. The porosity represents the main feature of an adsorbent agent and there are different types of activated carbon, which can be further impregnated for the removal of specific sub-stances.
